Summary of the proposal

Inclusionary zoning (IZ) is a land use planning tool that municipalities may use to require developers to build affordable housing units in residential developments.

IZ can work well in areas where there is rapid population growth, higher density / urban areas, a strong economy and housing market, and high demand for housing.
